Dental Implants, Searcy AR

When it comes to replacing missing teeth, Dental Implants are by far our most favorable option – our patients agree. The wonderful thing about a Dental Implant is that they are made to function just like your natural teeth. They make it feel as if you had never lost your natural tooth at all. If this interests you, we’d love to set up a time to discuss this option with you. Give us a call at (501)-268-5115.

WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?

A dental implant (pictured above) looks very similar to a screw. Essentially it is a replacement root for your missing tooth. Once surgically placed, the implant will bond with your jaw bone. After a few months following the placement, the implant will be tested for stability, and a dental implant crown will be placed which will look just like your natural teeth.

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR A DENTAL IMPLANT?

The ideal candidate for a dental implant is in good general and oral health. Adequate bone in your jaw is needed to support the implant, and the best candidates have healthy gum tissues that are free of periodontal disease.

Dental implants are intimately connected with the gum tissues and underlying bone in the mouth. To assure you have adequate bone levels to support an implant, you will need to have a CT scan taken.

WHAT IS THE PROCESS OF GETTING A DENTAL IMPLANT?

Getting a dental implant is broken up in a series of events. First, you must be approved for the procedure based on your bone level. Once you have been approved and the implant has been fabricated, the placement of the dental implant will occur. Dental implants require 3 to 5 months to fuse into your natural bone. Once this takes place, your implant will be ready to receive a dental implant crown that will be made to look just like a natural tooth. Below we have explained in detail the steps and what all each appointment will entail.

Your first appointment:

  • Generally, your first appointment with us will be a consult with Dr. Eichhorn to discuss the best option for you to replace your missing tooth or a tooth that is needing to be extracted. Once the treatment and estimate have been agreed upon, we will set up your appointment to get a CT scan. This scan will tell us if you have enough bone for us to confidently place an implant. If we are not confident that your bone levels will present a successful surgery, we will not attempt the procedure. This decision will be made after we review your CT scan.

Your second appointment:

  • Once the treatment has been approved, you will receive a call from us to come in for an impression to send to our lab in order to make your implant.

Your third appointment

  • Your third appointment will be to place the implant. Once the implant is in place, we will place a healing abutment to help promote healing. An appointment will be made from there for 3 to 5 months out.

Your forth appointment

  • This appointment will serve to show us if the implant has properly attached itself to your jaw bone. Once cleared, we will take an impression of your implant to send to our lab to fabricate your dental implant crown.

Your fifth appointment

  • This appointment will take place 2 weeks following the impression. At this visit, we will be placing your dental crown, which will be made to look just like your natural teeth.
